Dragon Remote Microphone App Reviews

Great App -- Terrible support

This works exceptionally well for me.Using Windows 7, 64-bit, with 6 GB of RAM. My issue is with support. If you click on the "app support" button, all you get is an advertisement to buy one of the NaturallySpeaking products. No real tech support. Why would I download this app if I didnt already have one of their products? You call the Dragon support team you get someone who has trouble with English language and simply cannot get what the script. Unlike other microphones you may use with NaturallySpeaking, the iPhone mic does not permit changing all of the hotkeys in the options menu. This makes the numeric keypad difficult to use. This is a programming error that needs to be corrected. I want to be able to change the mic on/off hotkey to a null entry. Note how long it has been since an update. If you do a lot of financial data entry you will have to learn how to work around this problem.

Not being coded to offset screen lock is problematic

I have to say I love being able to use my iPhone as my microphone on my MacBook Air for Mac Dictate. It is annoying that sleep state is not reflected on the phone, but the biggest problem is that if you have a screen time lock selected, it will quit communicating with the computer when you hit that time mark. It is disappointing to me that this problem has been discussed for over a year and not been addressed. Still, it is easier than carrying an additional microphone or using the unsupported internal microphone.

Made it work

I worked off and on for several weeks to get this app to work and finally succeeded. I think the secret for all who had this problem is to tell your PC to recognize your device as part of your wi-fi network.

Works as advertised but hard to set up

Took me some time to set up Dragon Remote Microphone, but once I established the connection and created a new profile, it worked better than I expected based on some of the reviews. I could walk anywhere in the house, dictate into the iPhone and the text was pretty close to what I had said. Obviously, I need more practice to make to profile more proficient, but a good start.

Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!?

What a wonderful compliment to a wonderful program. I dont have to go looking for a microphone or worried that something is not connected correctly. Hook up was absolutely seamless! Thanks for a great app !!!!

I wish a better alternative existed

I had problems using the app on DragonDictate 3 because the app would not recognize my computer. Since upgrading to DragonDictate 4 (last week), the app fails to recognize my computer greater than 70% of the time. It is very frustrating, requiring reboots of both the iOS app and the OS X app. Without an update since 2012, this appears to be orphanware. I hate that this would happen from a company such as Nuance. I sometimes use a quality third-party app to record dictations and upload them for transcription. But Im unaware of alternative app that will allow dictation directly into DragonDictate for Mac.

Come on … how about an update?

UPDATE: Still… waiting… for an update. Last updated Nov 2012. It’s March 2014. What? I think this company made an application for the iPhone, and walked away. Dictate 3 on the Mac is terrible now, too, doesn’t work with Mavericks very well at all. I’ve stopped using it and either type or use the built in dictation in Mavericks. Nice work, Nuance. Completely useless. Negative stars, if possible. UPDATE: Still waiting for an update that will disable auto lock -- what is wrong with this company -- last updated in Nov. 2012? Still uses the iPhone 4 screen size. Come on. Downgrade to one star til you show up with an update that fixes the issues that have been around for almost a year! This is a great application, and makes Dragon Dictate on my Mac amazing and enjoyable to use. However, I am only giving it 3 stars right now, because the app should disable auto lock when it is open (this is possible, as other apps like GoodReader do it). Right now, when auto lock occurs as you are dictating, the app stops communicating with the computer--not great if youre wandering around the room dictating, and you return to find out that the last five minutes didnt go through… Also, would be great if the app were updated to take advantage of the iPhone 5s screen size, and if the app had a bigger on off button (as that is nearly the only button you use on the app!) Thanks, Dragon, for a great app--fix the last bits, and Ill update to 5 stars!

Very Stressful. I cant get this APP to work...

I will not connect to my computer...

Needs improvement

If the connection process was easier and more seamless, this would be a 5-star app. Once connected, which can sometimes take restarts of your computer, the dragon program and this app, it works great.

How to make the App work

After much troubleshooting, I figured out how to get this app to work. The trick is your iphone has to be set up to sync over WIFI with itunes. Verify this. Try syncing it a few times. The app should work then. Sometimes you still need to restart the app on your iphone or try connecting to dragon a few times but generally it will connect 80%+ of the time on the first try as long as your iphone is set up to sync over wifi.

Autolock makes this application annoying

I have been using Dragon loyally since 2004, and I very much enjoy how this application works but there needs to be an auto disable for autolock! Every GPS map program is off auto locking leaves the screen on – why cant this app do it? Having to go into your general settings and turn off your screens auto lock is totally ridiculous.

Fix auto lock

Wasnt happy that it doesnt work with dragon 10. Now I have new version and works well. NEEDS ability to disable auto lock!!!! Seems like an easy fix- please!

Please update

Your desktop apps are so well designed that this is really disappointing. Need an in app option to keep from auto locking and an update in screen dimensions. Its not 2011 anymore. Basically no one has the old 3.5" screen. Fantastic desktop apps though!

Prevent going to sleep

Needs a setting to keep the app/phone from going to sleep (interrupts the mic). Very useful otherwise

Unusable with autolock on!

Autolock turns off microphone and connection to Dragon speak.

This app is why you DONT buy Dragon on Mac

No support. No updates. Just poor support in what was once a great product. Stay away from their expensive Mac software...

Whoa this is bad

Can we get an update? Its 2015 lol.

Too much trouble to get connected over home wifi

I give up. Bonjour is running. Firewall has port 51001 open (Im not forwarding my public port through the router just so I can use my phone on my local network). Iphone syncs over wifi. IP is correct. Profile name is correct. Seriously this is too much work for such an expensive software client to have a peripheral app be so flawed. At this point I dont care if I could get it working. Update: After installing apple bonjour printing client, then setting up a new account I was able to connecting to Remote Mic App but not add it to my old profile. I then was able to backup the Remote Mic profile, hunt down the backup, go into the "backup" subfolder and copy in *all subfolders* of the backup subfolder in my real profile (wired mic) and was at least able to salvage all the training and vocabulary I had built up from hours of using Dragon. If I could give this app negative stars I would.

Connection problems makes this app unusable

I have the same connection problems (with DragonDictate 4) that others report. This must work flawlessly and immediately for the app to be valuable. It doesnt.

un usable

Is this a professional application? It says downloaded and is invisible what are they thinking. What a pathetic piece of software this is!!
